He sat beside me in Science. I wasn't dreaming. He was actually talking to me, laughing with me and asking me questions. The beakers and tubes were arranged neatly at the desk and he mixed all the different liquids and one of them made a tiny explosion and smelled like fart. The class was quite of course because Mr Heimlich, a German teacher, doesn't like noise while he's teaching us and we don't dare speak in his class because he will sack you right in front of everyone.
When the liquid exploded, Freddie burst out laughing and fortunately Mr Heimlich was a bit deaf so I covered his mouth with my hand and told him not to laugh out loud otherwise we'll get in trouble. He sniggered and I couldn't help myself but join him. When class was over, it was Maths for me and he had music.

I thought he was going to go with me again, I mean I hoped that he was but he said he needed to go to his music lesson because he wanted to meet Tara, his girlfriend and also he told me had to practise playing the piano. As much as I wanted him to stay, I had no right in asking him to because 1) I meant nothing to him, 2) maybe he was just being nice to me and 3) he has a girlfriend. I smiled and watched him ran down the corner and heading straight to the music room. I walked over to my class and minutes went by without me noticing and finally, it was lunch.
As usual, I sat behind a staircase to eat my lunch. Annie packed my lunch because I didn't want to eat the school's dinner and even if I sat in the cafeteria, I would be sitting alone by the dumpster or I would be sitting with a bunch of socially awkward and uninteresting people with nothing to talk about. Plus, I like sitting by myself. I can do whatever I want because no one knew about this place. People barely use the stairs for some reason that I don't know and don't intend to know. I munched on my cheese and ham sandwich and listen to the song that was playing on my iPod. The music travel through my ear and I hummed the melody and chorus.
I put on the loudest volume and just forget the world. I forget about all the God's creation and focused on my sandwich and music. I tapped my foot to the beat and closed my eyes and really getting in the mood of the song. With the bits of sandwich in my mouth, I sang the chorus out loud but I didn't notice that I was doing it because I couldn't hear myself. Suddenly, Freddie appeared out of nowhere and in front of me on his knees bending over looking at me with food in my mouth. This was the second time I embarrassed myself in front of him. I was scared that I might make a habit out of it.
"Whatchu listenin to?" he gave me his lopsided smile. With food inside my mouth, I didn't dare to try and talk back. I chewed my sandwich rapidly and swallowed. I wiped my mouth with my sleeves and blinked my eyes. "Hm?"
"I-um, I was listening to um, a singer," I answered back stupidly. He laughed and asked me to scooch over so he can sit next to me. I had another sandwich and I was saving it for when I get hungry again which will probably be in five minutes but he asked for it and usually I wouldn't share any of my food with anyone but I couldn't resist his cuteness.
"Thanks," he took a big bite out of that sandwich. I watched him eat and he giggled with the food in his mouth, "what?" I shrugged. He swallowed, "what are you doing here?" he asked me and took another bite.
"Why do you wanna know?" I asked him back.
"I don't know, you're always by yourself. Where's your friends?" by now the sandwich has vanished into his stomach. I put my head down,
"I don't have friends," I said embarrassedly.
"Everyone has friends. What am I then?" he nudged me and smiled. What? What did he just say? Did Freddie Johnson just told me that he was my friend? I looked up in surprise and slightly confused. Why would he wants to be my friend? Just suddenly he decided that he was my friend.
"Um, are you?" I asked him but regretted it.
"Yeah, why? Don't you like me?" he joked.
"No, I do but why?" I asked him and blushed a bit.
He smiled warmly at me but didn't reply my question. He took my iPod out from my hand and browse through my music. He acted like it was his'. "Um, Freddie," I said softly but he didn't caught my attention. "Freddie," I said a little louder and pushed him.
"Y-yeah? Sorry, you got good taste in music," he complimented me, AGAIN. I still can't believe what was happening.
"Where did you find me? I mean, no one else knows this place and I have been hiding here for the rest of my life. How'd you know about this place?" I asked nervously.
"First, hiding from who?" he asked and I swear he sounded a bit concern.
"Everyone," I whispered softly.
"Well, two months ago, I needed to find a place to help me focus on writing my music and since the cafeteria is loud and raucous, I had to find someplace quite and I found this place which was perfect." He explained to me. Oh, so he writes and play music I thought to myself. The more I know about him the more I fell for him but I still thought that was a bad idea to like him. The bell rang and lunch was over, Freddie pulled my hand and I banged my head on the wall because we were under the staircase. "Oh God I'm so sorry! Come on, we don't wanna be late!"
"For what?" I asked him, confused.
"Our lesson," he giggled.
"What? I have History and you have-"
"- Science!" he yelled, "I came to your science class and now you have to do the same. We'll call it even."
I sure wasn't dreaming and for the first time in my life I was actually enjoying school today. I may get in trouble for this but I didn't care at the moment. After so much running, we forgot our bags and we had to run all the way back to the staircase and grabbed it. I had fun for the first time ever.

If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
