Day 4
That night when I was finally sleeping in peace, I felt a slight wind brushing against my cheeks. I groaned sleepily touching my cheeks. After a few seconds, I felt like someone was pulling my blanket away. I sat up straight in surprise, blinked my eyes rapidly and breathe nervously. The dorm was pitch black and the only light was the moon. I looked outside the window when the clouds was blocking the moonlight from getting into the room. I was nervous and my hands and neck started to sweat. I gulped and build up the courage to speak, "Rick-ricky?" I whispered.
I waited for about ten seconds: no answer. I called out his name again only this time, a little louder. Still no answer. I curled my leg up to my knee and rapidly blinked my eyes. After ten minutes, I was feeling tired and sleepy again. I closed my eyes and I swear I felt someone touched my shoulders. I gasped and pulled the blanket to cover half of my face, biting my lip trying my hard not to scream. The window was placed right above my bed and Ricky was three beds away from me. It couldn't have been him because I could hear him snore. Then, I felt another tapped on my shoulder and this time, I did screamed.
"Wh-what's goin on?" Ricky said slurry and I could see his shadow moved but not him.
"Something's here!" I whispered and rocked back and forth on my bed.
"Wha?" he replied me but softer and after a few seconds I could tell that he was asleep already. Oh God, I was so scared to turn my head around but I did it anyway and to be honest, I regretted it because I saw a shadowy figure walking by the grave and entering the clock tower. My eyes widened because I did not just saw that. The shadowy figure looked small, not bigger than a ten year old boy and the shadow was waving at me.
I turned my head back and closed my eyes and prayed to God that this was not happening. I held my blanket tightly, rubbed my eyes and hyperventilate. Shivers ran down my spine, my hair follicles stood up, my brain literally stopped working for about ten seconds. For some stupid reason, I turned my head back again to peeked through the window when the shadowy figure was gone. I looked at the time on the clock tower: 3.30 a.m.
I stayed up for about an hour just to make sure that the same thing won't happen again. Of course, I was so sleepy I almost fell asleep but I didn't dare to sleep after what just happened. The clock dinged four times telling me that it was already four o'clock in the morning. I was so tired that I didn't have anymore will power to stay up, I finally fell asleep again.
After a couple of hours or so, Ricky woke me up by staring at me with his white singlet and stripes boxer. He looked at me with his bright blue eyes, messy hair and a straight face. "What, what are you doing here?" I asked still half asleep.
"What happened? Something happened didn't it?" the boy asked me all of a sudden. Oh, now he asked me. I was feeling a bit annoyed because people or 'things' kept interrupting my sleep. I nodded hoping the boy would go away but instead he came closer to my face which made me felt uncomfortable. "You felt it didn't ya?" he said and I could feel his warm/stinky morning breath. I held my breath and turned my head to the side with another nod. I was too sleepy to care now.
"What's the time?" I rubbed my eyes and looked outside that the sky was getting brighter.
"Seven ay m." He said with his deep voice and Southern twang. I groaned sleepily and pushed him out of my bed. "I'll wake you up again at nine because Mrs Harris prepare breakfast at ten. Don't worry, 'it' doesn't come when daylight falls," he said. I was relieved that I have a couple of more hours to sleep but still wasn't satisfied with the amount of hours.
The hours of my sleep went by when Ricky didn't have to wake me up because I woke up by myself. By now the sun is up already and the heat was back. I kicked the blanket and took my towel. I went to the bathroom to take a quick shower. The bathroom was weird, it had like two rows of shower faucet and there were about six of them on each row. I turned the tap on the nearest one.
After shower, I put on some clean boxers, black shorts and a blue tee. I put my pajamas in a basket that Mrs Harris has provided for me and left it beside my bed. Ricky wasn't in the dorm room so I figured that he was in the dining hall already. I simply couldn't wait for what Mrs Harris has prepared for us. I ran downstairs and found Ricky already shoving food up his face, Mr Harris sitting opposite of Ricky with coffee in front of him. He was reading the newspapers but for some reason he must've heard me coming and greeted me good morning. I greeted him back and smiled. I haven't been here for long but I already liked the Harris'.
Mr Harris was in his mid forties but he had a thick mustache and his head shape was sort of like an egg but not an egg. In between of a round and oval shape. He head was bald in the middle but he had hair around the side and the back. His stomach was slightly distended which was normal for a guy his age. Mrs Harris had nice blonde hair and she looked like she's around thirty-five or thirty-six years old. They both were nice and warm people unlike Ms Brown. She still gives me the creep everytime I stumble upon her. Eventhough I had only been here for two days, I can't help but feel I have been here for ages. Like a prisoner serving a life sentence.
Mrs Harris prepared a nice scrambled eggs with two strips of bacon and orange juice. She also made some pancakes with chocolate sauce. As much as I hate this boarding school, I must admit that the food that I was given is absolutely delicious and satisfying. Ricky told me that after breakfast, we could go play some basketball. I wasn't very keen at playing sports because well, I'm not really a sporty person. And I'm not tall either to play basketball. "That's aw'right if you're not tall, I'd go easy on ya," he joked. I laughed sarcastically and enjoyed my breakfast. After breakfast, I thanked Mrs Harris and we went to the gym. Ricky took out a ball from the sports room and threw it at me. We went outside to the court and 'shoot some hoops' as Ricky would call it. Or any other American really.
"What happened last night?" the tall blonde guy asked me while he was bouncing the ball up and down.
"I.. I'm not sure to be honest," I said and I was honest.
"I told ya something weird was gon happen," he said like I deserved it. I mean I don't want to complain anything since I barely know the guy but he really knows how to push someone's buttons, me in particular.
"What'd you mean?" I asked him back trying not to be annoyed by him. He just shrugged and threw the ball and it went straight into the basket. I looked at ball flew in the basket and bounced back at him. I gotta admit, it looked cool. We talked and talked and finally our conversation led to last night when I saw the shadow by the tower.
