Reality, Fate & Destiny- Part 40

#40

After everything worked out between me and my parents and Adam, it felt like my life were perfect. But there were something in my guts that tells me that life cannot be perfect. I shook of all my worries, took a deep breath and glimpsed at the most beautiful boy I have ever seen. After I told mom how I really felt about Adam, she seemed like she was okay with him now. I still don't know why she doesn't like him before. Of course, I had asked her that but she refuses to tell me and surprisingly, I was okay with that.

Mom gave me permission to stay over at Adam's for the night but she called Margaret, Adam's mom every five minutes just to make sure I was okay. I told her in a calm voice; assured her that I was old enough and I always feel safe in Adam's arms. She wasn't too fond of it but she agreed to stop calling Margaret. Adam wrapped his arms around me, and his warm fingertips brush against my skin. Chills ran down my spine and the butterflies were floating in my stomach.

He hugged me tighter which made me hard to breathe but I didn't mind. I smiled and watch him sleep peacefully. I slowly took my arm from his grip and pushed his hair to see his whole face. He looked so innocent and beautiful. He smiled when I tickled his cheeks and whispered 'I love you' which made my heart thaw. He moaned softly and kissed my forehead with his eyes close. I glanced at the clock on his bedside table. It was still too early I thought; I didn't hear any cutlery clashing downstairs so I guessed that his mom were still asleep as well. I yawned and as I slowly attempt to fell asleep again, my phone buzzed. I groaned and sat up, taking my phone from the table to check it. Adam let go of me and rolled over to the side, snoring softly.

It was a text from Mandy: 'Jade omg guess what? No actlly dnt guess cos imma tell u! If u can get your ass away from Adam for five sec and come down here, ill tell u! come befre noon ok! Xxxxxxx' I smirked and chuckled softly not wanting to wake Adam up. I got up from the bed, kissed him lightly on the lips and wandered to the bathroom.

I cleaned my face from yesterday's make up and brushed my teeth. I splashed my warm face with the cold tap water. I shivered and felt really fresh. I tied up my hair in a pony tail and look at my own reflection in the mirror. I looked pale and different without wearing any eye make-up or any make up on. It made me feel weird but I blink my eyes rapidly and splashed more cold tap water. I held my boobs and made weird face expressions. "Can I touch it?" a voice behind me scared the crap out of me when Adam was standing by the door. I placed my palm on my heart and sighed. He strolled towards me, half asleep and placed his arms around my small waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck and our foreheads touched. "Where you goin'?" he spoke softly.

"Mandy's. Wanna come?" I replied gently. He nodded and asked me to wait five minutes for him. When I got out of the bathroom, I tip toed slowly towards Mrs Thane's bedroom door and peeked my head inside. The room was empty so I decided to go in the room to check it out. The bed was big, with curtain laces around the bed stand. The soft floral pattern wallpaper made the room looked cheery. Her make up tubes and pots were placed neatly on a wooden table. The mirror frame were beautifully carved into sunflower shapes. I thought her room looked so beautiful. I noticed a picture frame next to her perfume bottle. I picked it up and found myself astonished when I looked at the photo. It was the first time ever I saw Mr Thane's picture. He looked exactly like Adam, only an older version and shorter brown hair.

He looked absolutely handsome for someone his age. In the picture, he wrapped his arm around Margaret and held a little boy's hand who looked as sweet and innocent as ever. The picture made me grinned widely because they looked so happy. "He was the greatest dad ever," Adam startled me again.

"You gotta stop doin that," I joked. He sniggered and walked towards me, wrapping his arms behind my back. "What exactly happened to him? He's actually quite handsome." I teased the boy and he tickled me when I did. We stood there for a while and when it was getting quite annoying, I shook him to break the silence. "C'mon, you can tell me. You've always been so secretive, I wanna know." I persuaded him into telling me what happened to his dad.

"Do you really have to know?" he whined.

"Yes!" I laughed and got out of his grasp. I grinned and battled my eyelashes trying to look cute.

"Alright. You won me with your cuteness, come'ere baby." He pulled me towards the bed and we both sat down. "He died before I was born." He sounded serious as he began his life story.

"Then, who is this?" I was still holding the picture frame and pointed at the boy. He sighed so deeply and hurt were clouded in his eyes. His face expression tore my heart a little and I held his hand firmly.

"That's not me. That's my brother, Nathan," he closed his eyes as he flashback his memories. He took a deep breath before started talking again, "he also died right before my fourth birthday. He died one month before dad did. They both had bone cancer, mom said it runs in the family. Grandpa died because of it as well. Mom used to have it but by some miracle, the doctors and treatment worked," he stopped and took another deep breath.

He stare at me and gave the most fake smile I have ever seen. His grasp tighten and he closed his eyes again. "Nate died one minute before my birthday. It was around eleven-fifty when I was playing action figures with him, he was six at the time by the way," he chuckled. "We used to play action figures and he used to act them out in real life," he sounded excited suddenly.

"Then what happened?" I asked him and his smile turn into a frown instead. He licked his lips and looked at me with loving eyes.

"Then, he was running around the house and mom asked us to be quite because it was almost midnight. We giggled and dad picked me up and spun me around. I laughed and suddenly, Nate fell. Dad put me down and picked Nate up and mom ran from the kitchen and she started crying. Blood came out of his nose and his body shook. I thought he was just playing so I sat next to him when mom dialled the ambulance to come. Dad held his small body in his arm and cried. Nate's eyes were open and he looked at me and smiled. 'Happy Birthday little brother, I love you always,' were his last words." Adam stopped for a second and breathe, trying to control his emotions.

My eyes were flooded with tears and he continued as I sniffed gently. "His hand swayed when my dad hugged him and cried 'stay with me son'. I just sat there and watched my parents cried over my dead brother's body. The clock dinged that night and the ambulance siren approached our house. 'What happened', I asked my parents. Mom picked me up and hugged me tightly and she said that everything was going to be okay. I was confused at the time," he scoffed.

"No wonder you always hate it when we threw you a surprise party," I whispered under my breath but somehow he heard me. He smirked and nodded, "And dad, he died a month after. My mom cried everyday and I didn't do anything to comfort her at the time."

"You were young, it doesn't matter," I said calmly. He shook his head and placed his head on my shoulder. After a while, I got up and took his hand. "C'mon then, lets go over to Mandy. She said she's got big news," I smiled trying to make him happy again. He nodded and I put the picture frame back to where it was. We walked over to Mandy's house and when I was tired he offered me a piggy back ride and how could I resist?

When we reach there, I knocked the door and she jumped enthusiastically peeking through the window. "Come in!" she yelled and pulled us in. "Max asked me to be his girlfriend!" she laughed and twirled around. Adam and I exchanged looks and laughed at her reactions.

"I'm happy for you Mands!" I hugged her and Adam hugged us. I smiled at her and she smiled at Adam who smiled at me. We spend the whole day together, just the three of us.

"Just like old times huh guys?" Mandy smiled when we were all sitting on the couch watching movies and ate pop corns. We closed the curtains and blocked the sunlight from getting in the house. "Yeah," Adam replied and took my hand.

From that moment, I knew that our friendship were infinite. I knew that whatever else problems we were going to have in the future; we can solve it together. My heart was at ease and enjoyed the moment. Before, I was so worried about everything but as time flies, I realise that we just have to live in the present because thats the time where we can enjoy ourselves the most.

THE END
