College. Just thinking about it excites me, I can't wait to graduate and go to college. I mean, life in high school wasn't bad at all; I have great schoolmates, made great memories every year, got good grades in all of the subjects and most importantly, I have the best friends I could ever ask for. Of course, after graduation all of us would go to different colleges but we promised to always keep in contact. We have about four weeks left before graduation and two weeks before prom. Me, Emma & Danny are all excited about it because we're all part of the prom committee. I'm in charge of picking out the music, Emma is in charge of the decorations and Danny and the rest of his crew are in charge of the lighting and everything else that makes the prom 'shine' or so they call it.
"Can you believe it? Four weeks from now and we'll graduate and go to college," Emma daydreamed and took a bite out of her hamburger. That's another reason why I like the school, the food they serve to students aren't so bad. In fact, Gert, she's one of the lunch ladies, always serves us with something new and tasty every week.
"I know," I agreed and gulped down my Coke. I was sad by the thought of leaving al the great memories that me, Emma & Danny created over the years and I was sad that Emma got accepted into a Harvard leaving me and Danny behind. I mean, I was happy for her because it's not easy being accepted into Harvard. I can't really say I'm surprise if I'm honest. Emma has always got astounding grades and if I didn't knew her, I'd think she must be related to Einstein. Not literally of course because Emma is American and will always be American.
"I'm going to miss you and Danny so much," she stared at me with those hazel eyes and red, slightly curved lips.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Are you trying to be cute?" I laughed and threw a clean tissue at her.
"Hey! I'm not trying to be, I am already cute," she giggled, "no, I'm just saying. Harvard's going to be different without you guys. Who's going to dare me all of the crazy things? Who's going to go into her 'mom' mode because I've been smoking too much? Who's going to dance with me out on the roof at night?" Emma sighed after recalling all the crazy things that her and I used to do.
"Don't say that, we've got holidays and everything. We promised each other didn't we? Hey, where's Dan?"
Emma shrugged and finished her burger with only five more bites. She's not fat, and she's not skinny too, I'd say she's got a nice curve and I don't know how she maintain her body when she eats more than anyone else. "Hello my beautiful friends," Danny walked from behind and came to sit next to me. "I swear to God, the dance floor for prom is going to be so amazing." And that's Danny; always so proud of everything does. I raised my eyebrows and scoffed at him, pretending not to care but I really do. "What? Oh so neither of you don't think so?" Emma and I exchanged looks and burst out 'no' together.
"Look Dan, don't be so cocky okay. You had helped from Joshua, Brandon, Joseph and even that Andrew kid helped you and he's like a computer genius," Emma laughed. I nodded in agreement,
"Yeah and I'll bet all you did was supervise them or something." I laughed and so did Emma,
"I'll bet all you did was supervise them," Danny mocked me, "no! I actually, did most of the work okay. Fine, I'll admit that Andrew is a computer genius but I was the one setting up the lights and everything." Danny was so confident and sounded so proud. I couldn't be bothered to carry on with the debate and I noticed Emma has stopped teasing him as well. "Have you guys bought your dresses?"
"Nope, not yet. We're actually going to go today after school, do you want to come with?" I invited him even though I already knew what he was going to say. Danny scoffed and rolled his eyes,
"Yes Samantha because I would love to watch and wait for you girls to go to different stores and try on about 100 different dresses and end up buying the first dress at the first store. As much as I would love to join you, no thank you," sarcastically Danny replied me. "Who's your date Sam?"
"Um, no one asked me out yet. Well, three people did but I said no to all of them," I said.
"Yeah, she's a tough one," Emma interrupted me.
"Anyway, I don't really care. Emma hasn't got a date as well so we might go together, or maybe during the slow dance we can take turns dancing with you Dan," I chuckled. Of course, I didn't really mean it because I know that he has already asked Stephanie out and she said yes and Dean asked Emma out yesterday and she said yes so overall, it's just me with no date. It's not that I'm picky or there's anything wrong with Joseph, Luke or Brad either; I just didn't want to say yes too soon. Prom is four weeks away and if everyone else has got a date already, I guess I'll just have to ask one of my friends outside school out.
"Joseph asked for you today you know, he really wants to go to prom with you," Danny claimed. I smiled and sipped more Coke. "Do you have anyone in particular that you want to go with or something?" Danny has got that sympathetic look in his eyes that I didn't need.
"No, and I'd appreciate it if you would stop worrying. I'll be fine," I smiled. I lied, I did want a certain person to ask me out but it was too impossible. I wanted Justin to ask me but we haven't talked for almost two years and our last break up was pretty bad. Justin and I went out for a year and a half before I caught him kissing another girl at my Emma's 17th birthday party. It was pretty bad, I didn't really cry; I couldn't if I'm honest but I was angry. We had a fight in front of everyone and he didn't even explained why he did it. I guess things are just better left unsaid.
"Yeah, she'll be alright. I mean, she's 'Miss Wonderwoman' remember? The only girl in the world who caught her boyfriend kissing another girl and didn't cry," Emma reminded us. Emma and I came to the school on the same day and ever since then, we became best friends. Danny came along three days after us. Back then no one really talked to us and it was always the three of us. I introduced Emma and Danny to my family on the same week and ever since then, we've always been together. Emma had a boyfriend before but he broke up with her after six months for his old girlfriend and ever since, she doesn't believe in 'true love' anymore. I'd like to think that it's sad but I don't blame her. She go on dates, flirt and everything but she just doesn't commit herself into any relationship.
Emma's skin is tanned, she's half Colombian and half English. Her dad is from England and her mom lived used to live in East LA before she married her dad. Mr & Mrs Andrews are both great and fun people. Emma has a little brother, Arthur. He's five and he's the cutest little boy I know. They're all great people and I'm glad that Emma's my best friend. Danny comes from a typical American family, except he's got two older sisters and he's the only boy. Danny has got one 6mm ear tunnel on his right ear, his hair is light brown and he has a quiff. Before, Danny was dull and shy but then me and Emma helped him got through his shyness and he's one of the coolest guy I know and I love him. I love them both.
Emma thinks that ever since Justin & I broke up, I wasn't going to find love again. She thought that I was going to be like her. "Why didn't you cry anyway?" she asked out of the blue even though she already knew the answer.
"I told you, I don't know. And that happened two years, I moved on," I said, "I'd appreciate if you two could as well." They shook their heads and after a few minutes, the bell rang. "See you guys after class," I said and went ahead before them. Right before I arrive to History, Joseph stopped me.
"Hey," he said with his head down. He's got light brown hair, just like Danny and he is so much taller than I am; I might probably be around his shoulder. I'm not implying that I'm short, I'm average but Joseph was just tall. Joseph is a very attractive guy, he's really nice and he's musically talented.
"Hey, aren't you going to class?" I asked.
"Yeah, I mean I was on my way but then I saw you," he looked up and was now staring at me. I knew what he was going to ask, he was going to ask me whether I'd go to prom with him or not. I didn't said no to him because I was hoping Justin would ask me because I already knew that he already had a new girlfriend and in all honesty I would love to go out with him, but I just thought that it was too soon. "So, who are you going to prom with?" he asked. I could tell he was nervous because he kept avoiding eye contact and fiddle with his hand.
"No one yet," I answered honestly. I'm that sort of person, I don't like rushing into things and when I do, I'm committed to it and won't ever change my mind. Suddenly, his hazel brown eyes sparkled with excitement. He grinned and pushed his hair clear out of his forehead. "Prom is four weeks away and I don't want to say yes to just anyone yet. Maybe, if you could wait for me, maybe we could go together," I said.
"Of course I will. I'll always find my way back to you," he admitted and leaned down and gave me a peck on the cheeks. Joseph has always liked me, ever since I came to the school. I do like him, and I think that he's a really wonderful guy but ever since me and Justin broke up, I do feel as if 'true love' didn't exist. That's why I didn't want to lead him on or anything; we were just friends. "Well, I'll see you later," he said and bend down to give me a hug. I hugged him back and made my way to class.
