Loneliness- Part 17

"T-t-tara?" I stuttered trying to avoid eye contact with her. She has piercing brown eyes and no matter how hard I tried to look away I just had to look at her. She smirked looking at me from head to toes and her eyes flashed with anger and jealousy. For a second, I was glad that I made someone jealous, Tara Miller in particular but at the same time I felt bad because of what happened with her and Freddie.

"You got nerves showing your face here," she said in such proud, hatred way. I looked at her eyes filled with horror like a child afraid of clowns. "I can't believe Freddie would fall for someone like you!" she scoffed flipping her hair and rested her arms against her chest. I wanted so bad to burst out in tears but I knew that if I do that she would use my weakness against me. I tried to say something in return to show her that I wasn't weak but nothing came out. I think of all these different things in my head but none of them seem to came out.

I looked around my surroundings; funfair music bursting out, clowns making little children laugh and cry, family laughing together enjoying each other's company but that all didn't matter because I couldn't find Freddie anywhere. Tara looked at me as if she wanted an answer from me but I really had no idea what to say. She scoffed again and walked away and not long after she left, Freddie came and had a nice warm smile on his face with two cotton candies on a stick. "Here you go," he said handing me one of the cotton candy and I smiled . I didn't want him to know what just happened because I didn't want to cause any drama. "Are you okay?" he asked biting on the soft, sweet cotton candy.

"Uh-huh," I said and grinned. I really am the greatest actress. He wasn't convinced and stared deep into my eyes; he was trying to get into my head and read my thoughts. But I gave a convincing smile that even Angelina Jolie can't pull off. He smiled and took my hand, he was convinced. "Come on, stop worrying about me, let's go find Rose and Ben." I said and pulled him over into the crowds. With cotton candies in our hands, we both got lost from each other but I could hear his laugh from a distant. I, too, laughed and attempt to forget about everything else and just live and enjoy the moment. The sun bounced the colour of my red dress and for once in my life, I felt like I was in the center of everyone's attention and it felt nice, being noticed by people.

"Jenny!" I heard Freddie's voice calling out my name. God, he made my name sound so perfect. "Jenny!" he repeated my name again, "where are you?" he yelled out and I spotted through the crowded people and laughed. He saw me and ran towards me where I ran away from all of those strangers and stumbled upon one of the stalls. The man behind the counter had long beard, wearing a printed blue shirt with the carnival's name on it. I smiled waiting for Freddie to find me. I could make out his face from far away and he noticed me where I ran towards the carousel.

Kids accompanied by parents were in line waiting to get on the carousel and I ran towards the line and laughed by myself. Some of the parents gave me a weird look and I just smiled. "Jenny! Why are you running away from me?" he said catching breath in between every sentence when he finally caught me in the line. I winked at him and it was my turn to ride the carousel. I picked a white, medium sized horse and jumped on it. Freddie cut in line trying to get on the same ride as me before the girl at the control booth could start the ride. We both laughed when he accidentally pushed a little girl. He picked her up and apologized hurriedly and jumped on a pink horse not far from mine.

"Cool horse, it shows your inner side," I joked and silly music were playing as the horses were going up and down. I looked behind my shoulders and Freddie wasn't there on his horse so I surveyed on the other horses and they were all occupied by happy children. And then, I looked back to the front and I felt the platform of the carousel was spinning; Freddie held the pole in front of me and leaned forward,

"No matter how far or fast you run away from me, I'd always catch you." I smiled, overwhelmed by happiness and joy so I kissed him. I got off the wooden white horse and ran around the circular platform and as the horses went up and down, Freddie and I played hide and seek. The little children on the rides were laughing at us and I saw the look of the girl at the control booth and she was just laughing at our reactions. I was glad that these people, these strangers are happy for us even though we don't know each other. I guess they understand what's it like to be in love, or to be loved or to love someone.

The entire day turned out really great for me and even though I knew I had mid-term exams in two weeks, I wasn't worried because I had scored straight A's for my past exams and I was confident that I'd get yet another straight A's. We met Rose and Ben afterwards and we all had our lunch. Ben suggested we went on the scary roller-coaster and I was excited about it. In fact, I was the one who ran all the way to the queue first before Freddie, Ben and Rose could even blink their eye.

"She sure is a keeper Fredster, keep ya on her, she's real special," Rose said to Freddie as they catch up to me. Freddie smirked and wrapped his arms around my waist in the line. Ben and Rose were arguing whether the ride is going to be scary or not and I looked at them thinking that my life was a dream. Never in a million years would I thought that I'd have friends like Rose and Ben or a guy like Freddie. I still don't believe it but if it was really happening, I couldn't put how I felt at that moment in words.
