Reality, Fate & Destiny- Part 30

#30

"Th-there's no one there," Jack stuttered, "you sure mom called?"

"I don't know! Mandy said she did, so she must've," I replied nervously.

Jack shook his head and went over to his room. I looked at Mandy and she shrugged. "I think we should go," Max suggested. Mandy agreed and took his hand, she hugged me, they said goodbye and apologized. Adam promised that he'll stay and help me clean the house. I walk over to my brother's room and he wasn't in there. Great, I thought. He ditched the house and me. I groaned and starting cursing about how selfish Jack was. The girls left with him as well, I thought.

Adam smiled and calmed me down. "Its alright baby, we can clean the house together." I was still pissed at my brother but I couldn't resist just staying in the house alone with him. I swept all the chip crumbles away and threw the paper cups inside a big black plastic bag. Adam washed the dirty dishes and mopped the floor. We made a pretty good team I thought. Adam carried Mandy's DJ equipment to my garage and hid it.

I put on some song from my phone and we both danced to it while sweeping the carpet floor. I whipped my hair and we both sang together. He made that rock star move, pretending to pick the guitar. He swung his hand up in the air and shook his head. His black hair covered his face and Adam licked his lips perfectly.

"Are you trying to seduce me?" I asked, jokingly.

"Why? Are you seduced?" he said as he came closer towards me. I laughed and ran away from him and like two little kids, we played tag. Suddenly, the house phone rang and I quickly turned off the music.

"Uh- hello?" I sounded nervous.

"Jada sweetie, your dad and I will be back by the end of the week. I called earlier and Mandy picked up. I told you I don't like you hang-"

"Mom! She's my friend, why don't you like her? Lay off!" I cut my mom and my tone of voice probably told her I was mad. She suddenly stop talking and only the sound of her breath assured me that she was still on the phone. "Mom?"

She sighed, "Just, don't make a mess okay. We'll be back soon. Bye." And just like that, she hung up the phone. I groaned and threw the broom on the floor. I paced around and saw a picture of my family hung on the wall. I went over to it and frowned. My fists clenched, my pale cheeks turned red.

Adam walked towards me and put his hand on my shoulder. He kissed my cheek and walked me to the couch. We sat down, holding each other's hand. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"My mom is a complete bitch, that's what's wrong!" I yelled. Suddenly, I felt like someone punched my stomach and I regretted what I just said. I face-palmed myself and stare at the almost-clean-floor.

Adam shushed me, "Don't say that. You know you love her."

"I never said I didn't, it's just that.. that.." I didn't know what to say. Again, he shushed me.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I don't know what she said so I am not going to jump into conclusion and just agree with what you just said. She is your mom, ya know," he said. As much as I hate to admit it, she is my mom. I bit my lip and tilted my head backwards and rest it on the couch, eyes closed.
