I was talking on the phone with Mandy after Adam left around eleven-thirty. Mom came home so he had to go no matter how bad I wanted him to stay.
"Oh God, he did what?!" Mandy shouted through the phone, laughing.
"Kissed me?" I giggled. Mandy just kept on laughing through the phone and kept on awe-ing. I shushed her, embarassed.
She sighed and stopped, "Meh, I'm not surprised."
"What do you mean you're not surprised? You just asked me three times what he did. Moron."
"You're so slow Jade," she laughed again, "how come you only just notice that the guy has been crushing on you ever since he met you?!" My jaw dropped. Mandy knew about this the whole time. "Jade? Hellooo?" she echoed.
"Um, yeah yeah. Wait, so you're telling me you knew about all of this? You knew what was going to happen?"
"Mhmm." She said and we were both quite. Only the sound of her breathing tells me that she was still on the line. "Well, anyway. I gotta go, that old man's been bugging me to clean my room. If it's not cleaned by fifteen minutes, I'm grounded for another month." Mandy groaned. I said goodbye and hung up. Adam kindly went to a shop to get my phone repaired, that's how I communicated with Mandy. I have never thought that I would miss school. Summer was boring.
I went downstairs to check if my mom has made lunch. "Mom? Mom?" there was no answer. I was confused. I checked the living room and it was empty. I went over to my brother's room and it was empty; but dirty laundry covered the wooden floor, posters of naked girls taped to the wall and the plain white room smelled of smoke. I tutted and shut the door. I strolled to the kitchen and found a note sticked to the refrigerator. On the note, it says, 'Sweetie, your dad called me last night and said I have to rush over to Miami. He said it was urgent and I had to be there. I won't be home for at least a week. I left you and your brother five hundred dollars under my pillow. Spent it wisely and when I get home, the house better be CLEAN.' She underline the 'clean' bit.
I thought, this was good. I took out my phone and called my brother's bestfriend's house number. "Hello?" the voice was slurred and deep.
"Brandon, give the phone to Jack. I need to talk to him, NOW." I could hear Brandon shouted my brother's name through the phone and the groaning my brother made.
"Hello?" Jack said half asleep.
"Mom's gone to Miami for at least a week and she left fucking five hundred bucks with us!" I said, excitedly.

Suddenly, his voice grew, "Are you serious?! This is good. You know what I'm thinking about right?"
"Party?"
"Yes lil sis. You use the money to buy shits and all. I'll invite people."
"Okay. See you at home, bye."
That afternoon, I called Adam to help me out. He came over to my house, we bought some snacks and beers and helped sneaked Mandy out. When my brother came back, he said, and I quote, "This shit will be off the chain."
